THEORY: Written in the Stars

The artwork for three event cards depict the same event being (falling stars)  watched by three of the Four Winds, who each get some kind of vague omen on their individual fates. Rain of Emeralds is unequivocally Naseru’s: however, the other two seem to have the artwort mixed: Blazing Sun refers to Tsudao, but the illustration depicts Sezaru; conversely, In Light of Darkness refers to Sezaru, but the illustration depicts Tsudao, instead.

There seems no be no such card for Kaneka, which is odd. However… 

Another event in the set, Twenty Goblin Winter, has artwork that could fit the bill, but the text has an unrelated quote by the Crab Champion Hida Kuroda. The art depicts a lone bushi with a ponytail watching the falling stars. Could this have been the artwork originally meant for Kaneka’s reaction? A likely possibility is that, for whatever reason (balance maybe?), the «Kaneka’s Omen» event was scrapped and the artwork was there for the taking. If so, I wonder what was Kaneka’s intended quote; we only get a reference about «opportunity» inserted in Naseru’s omen.

In any case, both Naseru and Tsudao fates seemed to come true… He saw his own greatness (by the end of the 4W arc he ascended to the Throne); Tsudao’s tragedy (she died sacrificing herself to take Daigotsu out); Sezaru’s own is characteristically kept mysterious; finally Kaneka’s «opportunity» might apply to his future self appointment as Shogun, to oppose Naseru in the next arc.

By the very nature of vaguely described omens, many interpretations can be applied after the fact, but both Naseru and Tsudao seemed to fit to a T!
